Our History

our history

  • 2001

Barb Fox was introduced to the world of disability, special needs and complex medical conditions when her first son Kevin was born. Kevin, now an adult, has severe autism, significant cognitive impairment, is nonverbal and has daily grand mal seizures. As Kevin became a teenager, Barb’s need for caregiver respite on weekends reached a desperate level. In order to help other parents avoid caregiver burnout, divorce, and group home placement for the loved one, Barb took action.

  • 2020

Barb Fox completed her Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management from Grace College.

  • 2021

In Fall 2021, she started a Recreation Club pilot program with 3 participants and 100% reliance on God to make it work.

  • 2022

God was and is faithful, and in September 2022, the pilot program converted to an official 501(c)(3) called Recreation Club with 4 participants and a waiting list for future spots. God runs this operation and Barb and the Board try our best to follow His direction.
